Neck Pain & Tension Headaches

If you’re experiencing neck pain and tension headaches, you’re not alone. Many people suffer from neck tension due to stress, poor posture, or other factors and causing the nerves to become irritated and/or compressed and then lends itself a throbbing headache.

Luckily, there are a few things you can do to relieve the pain and improve your neck health.

One of the best ways to reduce neck tension is to practice good posture. Make sure to sit up straight with your shoulders back, and avoid hunching over or slouching.

You may also want to adjust your work space set up. Make sure your computer screen is at eye level and that your chair supports your back properly. If you have the option to choose a different chair, find one that is the appropriate height for your body, make sure your can rest flat on the floor when you sit with your knees just a few inches from the edge of your seat.

There are also several exercises you can do to help loosen up the muscles in your neck. One simple exercise is to gently tilt your head from side to side, holding each position for a few seconds. Another is to slowly roll your shoulders backwards and forwards.

If neck pain and tension headaches are impacting your quality of life, it’s important to see a doctor at Cherry Health Center. We are committed to finding the source of the problem and develop a plan to treat it.
